Once the mix comes together, this sounds pretty good. From The NFA, Dew, Sugar Mag is a nice segment.

I have never reviewed a show simply on it's acoustics, but this show is rather interesting. If Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" is her signature
...
and most recognizable tune, then this September 12th show is the signature for heavy reverb. Normally, reverb has to do with being so far back in the crowd, you're picking up everything bouncing off the walls, ceiling, ect., with a somewhat distorted, unclean sound that, normally, your first impression is, "too bad he couldn't get a better seat in the Mouth Of The Beast."
In this recording, the sound is pristine, as thought Frank had a wonderful DFC FOB position, and the Boyz are playing in a very large bathroom. It's a very different animal than heavy reverbed shows I've heard in the past - clean and crisp with an punchy, upfront demeanor.
But the reverb is so heavy, I can't help but wonder how it got that way? It's a kind of soft, heavenly sound that is rather unique. And it's really nice having The Boyz voices blending so well, being as soft as it is - nothing to cringe at, which I normally do at least a dozen times during any show. My only guess is that he was right behind the board with primo shotguns.*
For most SBDs and a number of FOBs, I artificially add reverb in Soundforge to soften the harshness. But this heavy reverb with a bright stage presence is a different animal than the mechanical additions I perform - especially when I have to crank the "verb" up on some of the most egregiously bad, up-front SBD vocals. It's interesting comparing the difference in this naturally occurring FOB reverb and my artificially administered versions. Good show too. Nice entrance into "The Wheel."
*Well, well. It's all starting to make sense now. Just read the Charlottesville notes with Healy allowing Mr. Streeter to patch into his AKG-414 mics at the board. Yep, that must be it. These Senns were right at the board. Frank's Charlottesville recording has the same sound as tonight's show.
